Home-Cooked Healthy Recipes in Less than 20 Minutes

Ever catch yourself wondering where the time went? If you feel like time is passing you by, you definitely don’t want to spend it in the kitchen worrying about what to eat and how long it’ll take for you to make something healthy. Today on the blog, we’ve invited Pam Havens from Simply Passionate to share with us a few of her favorite 20-minute nutritious recipes. Save time in the kitchen and give yourself more time for the things you love!

I believe in having more time to enjoy a relaxed routine. I usually eat what’s fresh and in season so some of my favorite meals take less than twenty minutes to make and require very few ingredients. Here are a few of my go-to, easy, healthy and delicious recipes:

1. Tuna Avocado Boat

Tuna is great for a quick lunch or dinner, yet finding great-tasting tuna can be tricky! I find most canned tuna is too salty, too watery, too oily or too fishy — although it is fairly inexpensive, easy to prepare and requires very few other ingredients to go along with it. Being introduced to Wild Planet has changed my opinion of how tuna tastes. This tuna is the freshest-tasting I have ever eaten. It’s only lightly-salted with sea salt and contains its own natural juices, so requires no draining. A few more facts about Wild Planet Tuna:

  • Sustainably pole & line caught
  • 100% pure tuna & sea salt
  • Smaller albacore contains less mercury than larger albacore
  • NO water, oil or filler added
  • All omega 3s are retained

Ingredients: Wild Planet Wild Albacore Tuna, avocado, mayonnaise, yellow pepper, dried cranberries, salt, pepper, paprika, parsley. Directions: Mix all ingredients together adding more or less to suit your taste. Serve in an avocado skin. Voila!

2. Chicken Salad Sandwich

Another great option is Wild Planet Organic Roasted Chicken Breast. USDA organic, made in the USA, and with no liquids added, this is a complete protein which makes for an outstanding quick meal. Ingredients: Wild Planet Organic Roasted Chicken Breast, mayonnaise, celery, onions, dried cranberries, salt, pepper, parsley. Directions: Mix all ingredients together adding more or less according to your personal preference. Serve on a sandwich roll, waffle, croissant, pita pocket or bread. Enjoy!

3. 50 Ways to Eat a Sardine

Don’t shy away from eating sardines. Wild Planet Wild Sardines are sustainably sourced and a nutritional powerhouse packed with essential nutrients. Each sardine is filled with omega-3s, protein, calcium, iron and potassium. If you’re not sure how to eat a sardine, which by the way not only is full of nutrition, they taste great, check out Wild Planet’s 50 Ways To Eat A Sardine Booklet.

Here are my favorites:

  • Serve on top of pasta.
  • Mash and combine with salmon and cream cheese on top of a bagel.
  • Mash and add to salad dressings.
  • Serve sardines on toast for a simple appetizer.
